Hi, I am Joyce
Artist, illustrator and nature enthusiast
Born in 1993 with an extremely creative soul. My passion lays in art, fashion, music and (preserving) nature and culture. Over the years, I explored and discovered various interests and skills, while connecting my work with sustainable elements. Not always as easy, but definitely worth trying. I strongly believe in preserving our environment, to maintain the nature's balance. This belief reflects in everything I do. From creating artworks, to my fashion choices and people I surround myself with.
A creative journey
From a young age, I loved creating and began sketching portraits at 10 y/o. Photography became my passion as a teenager, leading me to study fine arts photography at an art academy. However, it wasn’t the right fit, so I left to explore Southeast Asia and Australia, where I discovered hand-poke tattooing and pursued it for a few years. I later dived into graphic design, brand concepts, and illustration, which brought me a lot of joy and purpose.
This journey led to the creation of my own business: Arvo The Studio, where I now share my art as prints to brighten people’s homes and create artworks and concepts as a freelancer for brands and companies.
My art style
My art style and digital illustrations are leaning towards abstract Realism/ Romanticism, filled with texture and the impression of it being painted. For my personal creations I collect inspiration from Mediterranean accents, tropical environments and botanical elements. And I often work with warm hues and picturesque sceneries, inspired by the feeling of a sunny late afternoon: calm, relaxation and desire.
Besides having a distinctive style I enjoy exploring new art styles and widen my knowledge and skills. With influences such as Ukiyo-e, flat illustration, line-art and Romanticism.
